The 2010 Riding Season Is Open!
3 photos: Five Boro, Learn to Ride class, Long Island Harbors Ride Bike New York's 2010 riding season officially opened on February 1, with registration now available for rides and classes. This includes our biggest event of the year, the TD Bank Five Boro Bike Tour on Sunday, May 2. The 2009 Tour sold out far in advance, so you should register today to be sure you get a spot. Please consider riding with one of our charity partners for an especially rewarding experience. After you sign up, also be sure you're set for gear, a bike, lodging, and your training.

Classes: Are you nervous riding in traffic the rest of the year? Want to be self-sufficient if your bike gets a flat? Whatever your wish, Bike Ed is here to help. With 19 Savvy Cyclist: Traffic Skills 101 classes lined up, monthly Bike Commuting 101 seminars, a summer full of Learn to Ride classes for Kids and Adults, and ongoing Bike Maintenance 101 workshops, our schedule is packed. Summertime Rides: And finally, what better to look forward to than a summertime bike getaway? Join Bike New York for a beautiful ride along Long Island's North Shore or in upstate New York, complete with plenty of rest areas, post-ride activities, and a free T-shirt.

BNY's New CEO
photo: Ken Podziba at Five Boro start Bike New York extends a warm welcome to former New York City Sports Commissioner Kenneth J. Podziba, the new president and CEO effective January 25. Podziba replaces Pam Tice, the organization's director since its establishment as a non-profit in 2000.

"I feel so lucky to be following in [Pam's] footsteps and look forward to working with the staff to continue this vision while using my experience and contacts to further raise the profile and forward the mission of Bike New York," says Podziba.
