What is Bike Expo New York?

Bike Expo New York is the largest consumer bike expo in the United States!  This expo gives residents and visitors an unprecedented look at urban cycling against the backdrop of New York. Bike Expo New York (BE NY) will feature more than 100 vendors, live-performances, hands-on programming, bike gear giveaways and of course, free bicycle classes for both youth and adults!  The 2013 TD Five Boro Bike Tour packet pick up (rider vest, information packets, etc.) will also take place at the Expo.

Is there a fee to enter Bike Expo New York?

No, Bike Expo New York (BE NY) is free and open to the public.  Bike New York will be conducting bike education classes for both youths and adults and would like to be as inclusive as possible.

Is Bike Expo New York for all ages?

Yes, Bike Expo New York is free and open to all ages. We will have over 100 vendors, live performances, hands-on programming, and bike gear giveaways, in addition to free classes for youth and adults.

How do I get to Bike Expo New York?

Bike Expo New York is located at Basketball City on Pier 36 (along South St. at Montgomery St., Manhattan, NYC).  Click here to view a map of the intersection of South St. & Montgomery St.  Visitors are encouraged to bike, walk or take public transportation.  It sits directly next to the East Side Greenway (at Montgomery Street) making it perfectly accessible via bicycle.  Bike valet parking will be available.  It is also accessible via the East Broadway stop on the F train.  We advise you to insert the intersection of South St. & Montgomery St. as a Google way finder to Pier 36. Will there be car parking at Bike Expo New York?

Yes there are commercial parking lots available near Pier 36.  Use primospot.com and use East Broadway as a starting search location.  Visitors are encouraged to bike, walk or take public transportation.  Bike valet parking service will be provided.

Who will be exhibiting at Bike Expo New York?

Bike Expo New York will feature both local and national vendors of bicycle, health and fitness merchandise, giveaways, entertainment and much more.  The vendor list will be announced at a later date.

Why is packet pickup held exclusively at Bike Expo New York?
Our move from packet mailings to pickup at Bike Expo New York helps us reduce the number of registration scalpers and packet scammers. Moving packet pickup to a central venue and holding it closer to the tour eliminates opportunities for fraud and protects you from falling victim to this scam. Beyond packet pickup, Bike Expo New York is free and packed with giveaways, classes, exhibitors and entertainment.  It is a fun way to meet other cyclists gearing up for the 2013 Tour.

Can you mail me my rider packet and Tour vest?

PACKETS WILL NOT BE MAILED.  All participants must pick up their packet and vest at Bike Expo New York on May 3 and 4 (the days preceding the tour).  You must show valid photo identification (see valid photo identification) and your registration e-mail to receive your tour packet.   Alternatively,  you can send a member of your group to the Expo with the proxy packet pickup form, available by emailing a request to info@bikenewyork.org.  The Expo will take place at Basketball City on Pier 36.  Click HERE for more information.

My spouse is out of town during Bike Expo New York, but riding in the Tour.  Can I pick up his/her packet?

Yes, anyone picking up a Tour packet and rider vest must come with the proxy packet pickup form as well as a copy of the participant’s confirmation e-mail and a photocopy of valid photo identification.  Individuals picking up for a group must bring the signed proxy form along with the confirmation e-mail containing a barcode for each group member.

How can I pick up my child’s rider vest and Tour information and what information do I need to bring?

Children are encouraged to attend Bike Expo New Yorkfor free bike classesand family programming. In order to pick up rider information without the child present, you must bring your valid photo identification and the confirmation e-mail containing both registration numbers and barcodes. You do not need to provide identification for the registered youth. Note that adults may only pickup the rider packet for the single youth registered under their name.

What information do I need to bring in order to pick up my child’s rider vest and Tour information at the Expo?

What forms of identification are considered valid?

Residents of the United States and Puerto Rico must show state or federal government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s license, DMV photo ID, or passport.  Non-US residents, including Canadian residents, are required to show a valid passport (except residents of Puerto Rico, see above).

My friends and I linked together to ride as a group.  Can I pick up their packets at the Expo?

Yes, registered friends and family can pick up packets for all linked group members. Whomever is picking up the packages for the group must bring the signed proxy form along with the confirmation e-mails containing the unique barcodes and rider numbers as well as valid photo identification for all group members.

How can someone pickup my packet for me?

You need to fill out a packet pickup proxy form and include a signed photocopy of valid photo identification as well as a copy of your registration confirmation e-mail with a unique barcode and rider number.

What are the rules for picking up a group member or someone else’s packet?

Individuals (including non riders must bring the signed proxy form along with the confirmation e-mail containing the rider’s number and barcode. Group members can pick up packets for all registered group members. Group members must bring the signed proxy form along with the confirmation e-mail including the unique barcode and rider number along with valid photo ID for each group member.

Can I pick up the TD Five Boro Bike Tour registration jersey at Bike Expo New York? 

TD Five Boro Bike Tour registration jerseys will be mailed to participants before the event.

Can I return/exchange my TD Five Boro Bike Tour registration jersey?

No, all jersey sales are nonrefundable and nontransferable.  Participants purchasing a jersey should consult the sizing information on our registration details page.
