With the Twin Lights Ride Presented by the Jamaica Tourist Board rapidly approaching (less than 2 months to go!), we just sent out a reminder email to make sure everybody who wanted to has the time to register.
When they received the email, some people who registered way in advance realized that they can no longer attend. Somebody has decided to get married or work got in the way, or they are dealing with an injury (I hope not!). They don’t want their spot to go to waste, so they want to know what they can do.
Well, I’m here to help! Here’s a couple things you should know: we don’t offer refunds and I can’t transfer your registration to somebody else. There are a whole lot of reasons for this, but they include insurance/liability issues. The fees go to support our non-profit mission, so, if you can’t make it, that’s where the money goes: to fund our free bicycle education classes. However, we have worked out a way to try to make it up to you a little bit. If you let us know at least one day before the ride that you can’t make it, we will convert your fee into a charitable donation and we’ll be able to send you a tax deductible receipt. If this is something you’d like to do, just send us an email and we’ll get you all set up.
Remember, you need to let us know ahead of time because we use registration numbers to determine a bunch of things, like how much food we need to order (remember that banana math Ashley was talking about a while ago?) and how long the rest areas should stay open so everybody can visit them if they want. Plus, the ride will go on, rain or shine, a fact to which many of you veteran participants can attest, so you will probably know ahead of time if you can join us. The same is true for the Discover Hudson Valley Ride or the Five Boro Bike Tour, although the process with the Five Boro isn’t exactly the same.
Even though this post is all about what to do if you can’t make a ride, please come and join us! Registration is still open for the Twin Lights Ride. Every ride has its own flavor and you’re sure to meet lots of interesting people. Plus, who doesn’t like riding near the ocean? So come out and enjoy the company of your fellow riders as we ride out the summer in style.
I’ll see you on September 25th!
