Hello! I’m Kristell, the Communications and Customer Relations Assistant here. Chances are, if you’ve called or emailed Bike New York some time during the past four months, we’ve already talked. Each week I’ll be highlighting a question I’ve been asked a lot recently, or maybe I’ll share a story that one of you was kind enough to tell me—so if you have anything you’d like to share, send me an email!

But for today, I’ll tell you about me. Despite a pretty poor sense of balance, I was able to take my training wheels off my bike when I was 7. It was a big day for me and an amazing memory. I think a bike is the best way to see a new city. You can go right up to the monuments and cover a lot of ground. My first sightseeing bike tour was in Munich. An Irishman named Steve-O took my group through the city streets and down hills wet with the rain. Terrifying (remember my lack of balance) but so much fun!

Some of my other interests include traveling, dancing, listening to and playing music, pastries, bookstores, and my dog. I also feel lost when I can’t be near a beach for long stretches of time.

I joined Bike New York to help with the Five Boro Bike Tour. I got to meet some amazing people from all over the world who love biking. I even got to practice my French! (I speak French and am fluent at ordering food and drinks in Polish and Italian.) I answer questions not only about the Five Boro, but also our regional rides and our Bike Ed classes (be sure to check out our Regional Ride FAQs and some of our upcoming classes for some basic info). My favorite part of the job is hearing people’s stories, whether a ride is to celebrate an important event or to remember a loved one, and their reactions to learning to ride a bike, which range from pure excitement to very nervous worry. So don’t hesitate to tell me why you’ve decided this is the summer you’re definitely going to learn to ride a bike.
